Family Meeting Summary
The children of Noel and Kathryn Pratt met for a reunion in Utah August 28th 2008 to September 2nd 2008. The following is a
summary of the family meeting held on September 1st 2008. The first item on the agenda was a review of our activities.
Our walk down memory lane was a huge success. We enjoyed visiting Temple Square and the Conference Center. The film at the Joseph Smith Building was inspirational and made us all very grateful for the sacrifices of the early leaders of the church.
After spending the day at Temple Square we discovered that Joanna did n
ot feel well and she went back to the motel to rest. After she rested for an hour or so we all drove up to Maddox, a favorite eating place that we used to eat at on our trips back and forth to Salt Lake. It was a great meal and is still very busy.
Joanna went to bed when we returned and by 4:00 AM she was having trouble breathing and went to the ER about. She was told that she was suffering from altitude sickness and that she should not travel to Idaho. However, she also had a horrible cough and cold that the Doctor seemed to ignore. Anyway, she and Jan did not go on the next leg of the trip. They stayed at the motel.
Jim, John and I made the trip to Idaho We first drove right to Tamra’s house. (Thank heaven for map quest) We had a wonderful visit with Tamra, Christine and Barbara Gisler. Our discussion with them caught us up on many cousins and their children and grandchildren. We also learned that Ronnie Gisler did not die of Lupus which means that the Lupus in the family is probably from Dad’s side of the family since a couple of the grandchildren have the disease.
After a couple of hours of visiting and a great lunch we drove to Jerome. We located the bank where Uncle Mel worked and thus were able to drive right to the location of the stone church that Grandpa Pratt built while he was bishop. We were able to see the foundation of the church,
and the fence. The church is gone with only the slab left.
We then drove to the house that our grandmother lived in. So many memories associated with that house. It looked so much smaller than it looked when I was a child. We were able to walk through the house and saw that the attic stairs had been closed up.

The local cemetery was our next destination. We were able to find the graves of Lette, Grandma and Grandpa Pratt and Idella. We took pictures of all of them.
Our trip to Carey brought back many memories. We saw the first house we lived in which had burned down and is in the process of being re-built. We drove down the main street and stopped in front of the house we built when we lived in Carey. We also saw the school and then went to the church where we saw many people from our past: John Adamson, Bob and Erma Adamson, Wanda and Ronald Peck, Ann Peck, Dar Parke’s son, who is the bishop, Kenny Mecham and Amy Pyrah, Carmen Pyrah and Muriel Sparks. We also saw Barbara and Blaine Tingey, and Doris Barton. We had an enjoyable lunch at Tingey’s.

On September 1st we drove to Provo for our family meeting and lunch. We had a wonderful birthday dinner for Judy, cooked by Sandy. We so appreciated their warm welcome into their home. It was decided that our next reunion would be in 2010 in Houston or in another locale. Judy was assigned to check out a BYU church history bus tour, Sandy is going to find out about an Alaskan cruise, John was assigned to find out about a Mayan ruins trip to Mexico and Joanna is going to find info on Branson, Mo.

We discussed a family blog and John and Jan have already made that happen. The address is http://prattparley.blogspot.com/
Joanna is going to transcribe the Paul Rudy History from Mother and Dad’s journal.
John is going to share his personal history and John and Jan are going to provide and up dated list of addresses and phone numbers, plus e-mail addresses. Also, Christine said that she would send John a history of Hazel Pratt.

Joanna was going to ask Eleesa for any info she might have. Joanna also said she would write a book about our family history.
Judy has many old pictures that need to be identified.
The reunion ended one day early because of Hurricane Gustav.
